About the role

At MOOV, business development starts with understanding how companies move freight, what matters to their operations, and where our services can provide value.

As a Business Development Manager, you'll build relationships with new prospects and identify opportunities to grow accounts that already work with MOOV. You'll manage commercial conversations from initial contact through negotiation and account development.

Our customers come from different industries. That could mean a construction company moving steel or lumber, a food business shipping produce or packaged goods, or a manufacturer or retailer moving raw materials, packaging, and finished products. Each has different transportation requirements, and understanding those differences is part of the job.

You'll take ownership of your pipeline, identify additional needs within existing accounts, and negotiate pricing and commercial terms. You'll work closely with the operations team and develop greater autonomy in commercial decisions as you gain experience with MOOV's capabilities and processes.

We're looking for someone with proven sales experience, strong commercial judgment, and the follow-through to turn qualified opportunities into long-term customer relationships. You'll be responsible for creating opportunities, following them through, and expanding the business you develop.

This is a full-time, on-site position at our Montréal office, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What the day to day looks like

  • Prospect new customers across industries such as construction, manufacturing, food and beverage, retail, and consumer goods.
  • Develop additional business with existing MOOV customers by understanding their changing shipping requirements and identifying relevant opportunities.
  • Generate new sales opportunities through outbound calls, emails, referrals, networking, and direct outreach.
  • Speak with business owners, logistics managers, procurement teams, and other decision-makers about their transportation needs.
  • Learn about customers' shipping volumes, freight types, lanes, schedules, and operational challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for full truckload, LTL, refrigerated, specialized, and cross-border transportation.
  • Work with operations to develop proposals and transportation plans that reflect customer requirements and what MOOV can execute.
  • Present solutions, discuss pricing, handle objections, and negotiate commercial terms within an appropriate level of authority as your knowledge of MOOV develops.
  • Maintain relationships with new and existing customers, follow up consistently, and identify opportunities to expand accounts.
  • Coordinate with the internal team when onboarding new customers or introducing new freight requirements to existing accounts.
  • Keep prospect information, customer activity, follow-ups, and sales opportunities organized in the CRM.
  • Manage your sales pipeline and work toward established performance targets.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven sales experience. A demonstrated ability to prospect, build customer relationships, negotiate, and close new business, preferably in a B2B environment.
  • Confidence in prospecting. Comfortable making outbound calls, approaching new businesses, and starting conversations with people you haven't met.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Able to discuss pricing, handle objections, communicate value, and recognize when an agreement makes sense for both sides.
  • Business understanding. Curious about how companies operate, able to identify customer needs, and comfortable asking questions beyond the initial request.
  • Clear communication. Confident speaking with customers, business owners, managers, and senior executives, both verbally and in writing.
  • Organization and follow-through. Able to manage several conversations and opportunities at once while keeping commitments, details, and next steps organized.
  • Independence and initiative. Comfortable planning your day, creating your own opportunities, and taking responsibility for your sales activity.
  • Persistence and judgment. Able to handle rejection, keep conversations moving, and recognize which opportunities are worth pursuing.
  • Technical proficiency. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and the tools used to manage sales activity and customer information.

Nice to have

  • Previous sales experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or another service-based industry.
  • Familiarity with FTL, LTL, refrigerated, specialized, or cross-border freight.
  • Existing business relationships or industry contacts with potential transportation needs.
  • Experience selling to manufacturers, distributors, retailers, construction companies, or food businesses.
  • Strong French communication skills are highly preferred.
